Railfreight and ecology do go arm in arm

CO2 emissions resulting from railfreight haulage are around 21 times less than road transport. A survey revealed that many of the Austrian Rail Cargo Group’s customers really value this advantage.

More than 560 customers in twelve countries were interviewed about the Austrian railfreight operator, and 190 expert interviews were conducted with customers in 15 countries. A total of EUR 6,000 was donated to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) for each questionnaire that was returned and each interview.

Given that the transport market is due to grow by another 30% by 2030, Rail Cargo said: "We must do our utmost to ensure that the railway absorbs most of this additional traffic.” (ben)
