Qatar Airways doubles cargo capacity in Munich

Qatar Airways Cargo is doubling its capacity at Munich airport. All four flights between Germany's fourth biggest air cargo gateway and Doha are operated on behalf of the logistics company DB Schenker. One of the carrier's new rotations continues from Munich to Chicago Rockford, an US Midwest airport with a steadily growing cargo business, and via Munich back to Doha.

Markus Heinelt, director traffic development cargo at Munich Airport: "We welcome the expansion of our long-standing customer Qatar Airways. It once again demonstrates the growing importance of Munich as a cargo hub."

In 2022, the airport handled approximately 259,000 t of airfreight, which was 55% more than in 2021 - but still below pre-pandemic levels (2019: 339,000 t; 2017: 373,000 t). (ah)
