Proper destruction of fraud material

Customs in Ruse (Bulgaria) informed the ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) as the holder of the 'EUR in Oval' trademark about the suspension of Euro pallets. The case involved a truck carrying Euro pallets from Ukraine bound for Bulgaria. The pictures sent by customs to the RCG clearly prove that the Euro pallets were counterfeit and would have to be destroyed.

The importer was immediately informed about the counterfeit goods and given a deadline to report back to customs, which he failed to do. Due to the good cooperation with the Bulgarian customs and thanks to a committed employee of ÖBB RCG, the Euro pallets stored in the customs warehouse could be destroyed promptly.

The ÖBB Holding's Thomas Metlich, its public and cargo affairs manager and the chairman of the UIC working group 'palletisation issues', said that "our concern is to act as quickly and efficiently as possible in the event of a trademark infringement, to prevent damage to the quality of the open Euro pallet exchange pool."
