Polish carrier invests in safety system
PKP Cargo International is installing the ETCS mobile safety system in 29 Type 753.7 locomotives, also referred to as “brejlovec”. The investment project will be co-financed by the European Union under its operational transport programme.
The carrier recently signed a contract for the first eleven locomotives with Czech manufacturer CZ Loko. The agreement includes the option of installing the ETCS systems in 18 more locomotives.
The total value of the order is CZK 278 million (EUR 10.628 million) for all 29 locomotives. The order comprises a comprehensive delivery and installation of the mobile part of a Level 2 ETCS safety system, which is to comply with the baseline 3 requirements for Type 753.7 railway traction vehicles.
