Pay-per-use for electric lorries

Truck manufacturer Scania and digital freight forwarder Sennder have founded a JV in Berlin to accelerate the electrification and decarbonisation of the European road logistics sector.

The two companies are introducing Juna, a pay-per-use model for e-trucks, which are two to three times more expensive than diesel trucks. The model enables transport companies to book e-trucks and guaranteed transport volumes by giving them access to spot and contract transport services via Sennder's digital platform.

The JV makes it easier for hauliers to switch to e-trucks, as it reduces financial barriers such as high acquisition costs and residual values, the partners said. (ben)
