Particulate matter filters trials completed
The filtration specialist Mann + Hummel is working on a project with Mercedes-Benz to develop two particulate matter filters. A trial has shown that the system offset the vehicle's particulate emissions by more than 50%.
The particulate matter filter is located near the rear axle and needs to be replaced once a year. A second filter is integrated in the front-end module and works in combination with existing extractor fans to filter particles from the air.
The vehicle is additionally fitted with a particulate matter sensor that can measure the concentration of particulate matter in the air. This allows the vehicle to be used as a mobile monitoring station too. (ben)
