Optimising wagonload traffic in Scandinavia
ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is now routing its freight traffic from Linz (Austria) via the RCG hub in Rheinkamp near Duisburg (Germany) to Malmö in Sweden, from where the cargo is distributed within Scandinavia.
In Rheinkamp, freight volumes can also be channelled onto trains bound for Scandinavia or distributed from Scandinavia to other destinations (including locations within Germany or in France, Belgium and the Netherlands).
The Linz-Scandinavia-Wels service now shares the route with the Linz-Duisburg-Wels transfer service. Furthermore, the previously weekly round trips between Linz and Rheinkamp and Wels have been increased from five to six, two of which depart from Rheinkamp to Malmö and back. (ben)
