"OOCL Spain" makes its first visit to Hamburg

The "OOCL Spain", which was christened in February and has been operating in the Asia-Europe service LL3 since March 2023, has now moored in the Port of Hamburg for the first time.

The vessel, which belongs to Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), has a cargo capacity of 24,188 teu. Its dimensions (399.9 m long, 61.3 m wide) are comparable to those of the world’s other largest megamax container ships.

According to the shipping company, the vessel, which was built by Nantong Cosco KHI Ship Engineering, is equipped with the latest intelligent technology, which provides large amounts of data to optimise the operation of the ship. This also improves fuel efficiency, helps to monitor ship’s technical condition and increases safety, OOCL added. The ship has been awarded three "Smart Ship" certificates by the American Bureau of Shipping. (lh)
