On the move again
Transborder freight between the USA and other North American countries (Canada and Mexico) increased by 11% in July 2020.
Total transborder freight moved by all modes of transportation valued USD 91.0 billion, up 10.9% compared to June 2020 and up 62.2% from May 2020 and down 11.2% compared to July last year, according to the US bureau of transportation statistics (BTS).
The most-used mode in July 2020 was the truck: trucks transported USD 60.7 billion of freight, up 7.5% compared to June 2020 and down 4.9% compared to July 2019.
The second most-used mode was the train: railways carried USD 12.9 billion of freight, up 14.7% compared to June 2020, down 13.0% compared to July 2019. (ben)
