On-site biosecurity inspections

Victoria International Container Terminal (Vict) at the port of Melbourne has gained approval to conduct rural tailgate inspections under Australia’s approved arrangement class 14.4, enabling on-site biosecurity checks for containers bound for rural areas in Victoria.

Granted by the department of agriculture, fisheries and forestry, this appropval allows Vict to enhance efficiency in the import process by performing inspections directly at its Webb Dock facility. The service removes the need for containers to be transported off-site for biosecurity clearance, thereby reducing logistics costs and saving time for customs brokers, importers, and biosecurity stakeholders.

With a fully certified team, Vict can handle various container types, ensuring compliance with rigorous biosecurity standards, and offers scheduling through its website. (pb)
