Norsepower and Syroco form AI alliance
Norsepower has reported that it has entered into a partnership with the climate-tech start-up Syroco, to optimise wind propulsion efficiency on merchant vessels.
The collaboration integrates Norsepower rotor sails with Syroco’s AI-driven digital twin technology, with the goal of enhancing fuel savings and emissions reductions.
Syroco CEO Alex Caizergues says that “this collaboration showcases the great potential of combining innovative technologies to meet the maritime industry’s decarbonisation goals.”
The partnership enables real-time optimisation by factoring in wind currents, waves and arrival times, amongst other factors. Deployment on Socatra’s tanker ‘Alcyone’, alongside other on-board actions, have demonstrated fuel savings of up to 21% per voyage, according to Syroco’s performance evaluation technology. (js)
