No Russian impact on Port of Gothenburg

In Q1/2022, the Swedish port of Gothenburg handled with 212,000 teu, 4% more containers than in the same period in 2021 (204,000 teu).

While the total number of ro-ro units amounted to 147,000, a 5%-rise compared to Q1/2021, the number of new cars handled declined by 7% to 67,000. The volume of energy products went up by 5% to 5.3 million t. Several new rail shuttles were introduced and in Q1/2022, 126,000 teu were transported by rail in the hinterland.

Traditionally, Russian trade via the port of Gothenburg is limited - in 2021, Russia-oriented goods accounted for less than 0.5% of the port's handled cargo volume. The lack of Russian ships since Russia's invasion of Ukraine thus did not have a negative impact on the port's volumes during Q1/2022. (sh)
