New terminal at LHG operational

The new terminal for forestry products (FTPSK) at the Skandinavienkai in Travenmünde (Germany), which is run by the Lübecker Hafen-Gesellschaft (LHG), has been on stream since the end of December 2019. It is now entering a new phase. Volumes will be continuously increased to test the operational processes.

The terminal is expected to be fully operational in time for the official opening at the end of January this year. The port authority of the city of Lübeck completed the facility by mid November 2019 and handed it over to LHG.

The FPTSK includes a 25,000 sqm logistics warehouse and a 5,000 sqm ferry hall. The terminal also features a fortified area spanning about 70,000 sqm. The multifunctional logistics warehouse is 300 m long and offers space for up to 35,000 t of forestry products. Long roof overhangs provide adequate protection in times of bad weather. Six loading gates on each longitudinal side of the warehouse ensure a seamless flow of incoming and outgoing goods. (mw)
