New SSS connection in Southern Italy
Starting on 17 October, the Grimaldi Group is further extending its operations between Sicily and Naples. A new three-weekly service will be launched for the transport of passengers and freight Naples.
The ro-pax vessel “Cruise Ausonia” will be deployed, a modern unit with a capacity of 1,920 linear metres of rolling freight (cars, vans, trucks, trailers, etc.). The vessel is coated with special silicone paints that optimise her hydrodynamic efficiency without releasing biocides into the sea.
Its propulsion system has been upgraded for the new itinerary while the exhaust gas cleaning system allows to reduce sulphur and particulate emissions, and the ballast water treatment system installed onboard complies with the most recent international standards.
Further services of the group in the region which are dedicated to the combined transport of freight and passengers include Livorno-Palermo, Naples-Cagliari-Palermo and the Civitavecchia-Salerno-Palermo-Tunis lines.
The group also runs the Genoa-Salerno-Palermo, Ravenna-Brindisi-Catania, Salerno-Catania and Genoa-Livorno-Catania-Malta services for freight-only transports. (sh)
