New service links Turkey with Spain

Ekol Logistics has introduced a new intermodal connection between Turkey and Spain. The Denmark-headquartered DFDS operates the ro-ro services that Ekol plans to use in this connection. The company will use Izmir’s Port of Alsancak in Turkey and Port of Tarragona in Spain.

Ahmet Musul, chairman of Ekol, spoke of saving 610,000 litres of diesel and 900 t of carbon per month. This new setup for a multimodal solution is comparable to the Turkish company's cooperation with the ports of Trieste and Sète.

In addition, Ekol is also launching a new link to Morocco. The company plans to deliver goods from Turkey to Morocco on the Turkey-Spain-Morocco line within 144 hours. Morocco is Turkey’s fifth biggest trading partner in Africa. (cd)
