New rail link between Baltics and Turkey

Metrans has introduced new rail connections between the Baltic Sea, Central Europe and Turkey by adding Gdansk (Poland) as another terminal in Northeast Europe to its network. The new link with Turkey is operated in partnership with Omsan Logistics.

The first container train left the Metrans hub terminal Dunajska Streda (Slovakia) on 3 September 2022 bound for the Istanbul terminal Halkali. The new service will begin with two round trips per week.

With the new service, the complete rail network of the HHLA affiliate now stretches from Gdansk (Poland), Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Wilhelmshaven (all Germany) and Rotterdam (the Netherlands) to Koper (Slovenia), Trieste (Italy), Piraeus (Greece) and Istanbul (Turkey). (ben)
