New look for Ukrainian railways
The Deutsche Bahn (DB) will provide the Ukrainian state-owned railways Ukrsalisnyzja (UZ) with entrepreneurial and technical advice and support over the next few years. The companies recently signed a MoU to this effect.
The aim is a gradual restructuring of the Ukrainian railways – from the reorganisation of the individual fields of business to the optimisation of operations and management, DB said.
With a 27,000 km rail network and around 250,000 employees, UZ is one of the largest rail companies in Eastern Europe. The plan is to evaluate the company’s situation and draw up a milestone strategy by the end of 2021. (ben)
