New ideas for the working world

At this year's European Forum Alpbach (EFA), Austria's railway company ÖBB is taking a look at the world of work of tomorrow and focusing on the labour market and recruitment.

Austria’s largest mobility service provider - like many other companies in the country - is facing a generational change. Around a fifth of the current workforce will retire in the next few years.

ÖBB wants to take on 18,000 new employees by 2028. Time to break new ground in the labour market. ÖBB CEO Andreas Matthä and AMS head Johannes Kopf discussed the options available at the ÖBB Dinner Talk on Thursday evening (31 August 2023).

The ÖBB Content Lab will follow today, Friday, a workshop on the world of work 2.0. Among other things, it will address several main topics, such as the four-day week for more flexibility, using the work potential of people with a refugee background and increasing the proportion of women as a success factor.
