New hub and new rail connections
On 1 April 2019 Metrans will integrate the intermodal hub in Zilina, in the northwest of Slovakia into its network by launching a regular daily shuttle train service between Zilina and Dunajska Strada in the south of the country.
The new train will have direct links to the ports of Hamburg Euisburg und Bremerhaven in Germany, Koper in Slovenia and Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
On 10 March, the HHLA subsidiary Metrans will also introduce two weekly train runs between Malaszewice in Poland and Ceska Trebova in Czechia with the option of carrying containers to further destinations in eastern and central Europe. (ben)
