New handling vehicles at Heathrow
The British logistics provider Davies Turner has made a significant investment in its air cargo business at its hub in Heathrow and replaced its existing material handling equipment with seven electric forklift trucks, three reach trucks and one battery charging truck, all using high tech battery and charging infrastructure. The eleven vehicles were procured on lease from Rushlift, Davies Turner Air Cargo’s partner of 30 years.
The aim is to ensure efficient operations while meeting health and safety goals and reducing workplace accidents. Part of Rushlift’s new Bobcat range, the vehicles have perimeter proximity lights which enable them to operate in low-lit conditions as well as sense other equipment to prevent collisions. (mk)
