New bridgehead in Turkey for Aco Marine
Turkey’s increasing market share in the shipbuilding and repair sectors has led Aco Marine to appoint Istanbul-based Esko Marine as its agent for the region. Aco Marine, a company specialising in wastewater management solutions, has seen a shift in focus from Far Eastern yards to Turkish yards for some projects, as shipowners look to benefit from cost efficiencies and shorter lead times.
All the agent’s technicians will be trained at the Aco Marine’s facility in Czechia to ensure that their understanding of the equipment and its installation is adequate. Over the past 20 years, Turkey’s maritime shipbuilding exports have increased and in recent years also diversified.
According to an OECD report, Turkish shipbuilding is regularly listed among the top ten based on ships’ deadweight and the top five by the number of ships. (kd)
