New boost for rail logistics
In Germany, Duisport and Cargo Beamer have joined forces to plan eco-friendly supply chains from ramp to ramp.
The project centres on Cargo Beamer’s first wagon park in Duisburg, which offers automated cargo handling for semitrailers from road to rail, robotised cargo centres, distribution of goods based on electro-mobility, as well as a robotised loading and unloading system for high-volume rail containers.
As a first step, Cargo Beamer’s technology will help introduce fast overland transport routes from Duisburg to hubs in Europe, Russia, Central Asia and China. Cargo Beamer wagons are so far deployed only on a first transalpine route to Milan/Domodossola (Italy). (ben)
