New berth at Mict
After having upgraded berths 1 to 5 and their backup and yard areas, International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (Ictsi) is adding another berth to its flagship Manila International Container Terminal (Mict), berth 8. It is beyond the contractual commitments made to the department of transportation (DOTr) and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA).
Mict’s new berth will be 400 m long, which will bring an annual capacity of 200,000 teu. Moreover, the annual capacity of Mict will be of 3.5 million teu, turning it into the Philippines’ largest international gateway.
Ictsi EVP Christian R. Gonzalez: "This will bring significant economic benefits to the Philippines as we will have more capacity to handle growing trade volumes." (lh)
