New batch of flat cars for transporting timber
UWC, Russia’s largest manufacturer of freight cars, has signed a contract with Arkhbum, a major operator on the railway services market to deliver 25 flat cars on bogies with a 25 t axle load. The vehicles are designed for the transportation of timber and have an increased loading capacity of 74 t and a higher loading volume of 122 cbm.
The freight cars will be delivered by the end of Q1/2020. Taking into account the latest deal, the number of UWC-produced cars in Arkhbum’s fleet will rise to 305 units. The freight cars allow loading without creating a ‘freight cap’, and the side posts prevent the freight from being damaged during loading and unloading operations. (ben)
