MSC's cold grip in Livorno
In mid-January 2023, Terminal Investment Limited (TIL), which belongs to the MSC group, completed its acquisition of Terminal Darsena Toscana (TDT) in the Port of Livorno, Italy. The seller is the Gruppo Investimenti Portuali (GIP), which also handed over its stake in the container terminal of Sech Genova to PSA in 2020.
The amount of the current transaction of DTT was not disclosed. The purchase remains subject to approval by the relevant authorities.
TDT is a major player in the handling of temperature-controlled, including refrigerated, goods. The acquisition doubles the size of MSC’s presence in Livorno, as the group also owns a 50% stake of the Lorenzini Terminal. (sh)
