More renewable fuels in the Netherlands
Neste, a major producer of renewable diesel, is expanding its production site in Rotterdam, where the company already runs a factory on the Maasvlakte.
Although Neste also has plants in Sluiskil and Vlaardingen in the Netherlands, the acquisition of the Rotterdam-based Bunge Loders Crocklaan refinery, which was completed in early March this year and which will enable a faster ramp-up of feedstock pre-treatment capacity, has tipped the scales.
The EUR 1.5 billion investment will be used to carry out a planned expansion partly on the existing site and partly on new land on the second Maasvlakte.
Since 2019, Neste's global headquarters for its sustainable aviation fuels business has been located in Hoofddorp. It recently acquired a minority stake in AFS, the company responsible for fuel supply at Schiphol Airport. (cd)
