Maersk launched its three-wheeler and four-wheeler electric vehicles (EV)s in Mumbai, India, last year. Since then, the country’s awareness of EVs has grown, resulting in an unprecedented rise in demand from several customers.
Maersk is now increasing its EV fleet to over 500 vehicles in 26 Indian cities. The EVs are used along the first-, middle- and last-mile. Maersk recently tied up with a large e-commerce platform in India to support its distribution requirements with a fleet of EVs with payloads ranging from 550 kg to 700 kg and a driving range of over 120 km. Over 200 vehicles are currently being deployed in 15 Indian cities. (ben)
