More dragons and griffins for the locomotive fleet
The Polish railfreight company Lotos Kolej has ordered five new electric locomotives from Polish manufacturer NEWAG for PLN 80 million (EUR 18.6 million).
The engines are two four-axle griffins and three six-axle dragons of the second generation, all equipped with ETCS Level 2. Lotos already deploys five dragon locomotives of the first generation.
Newag will deliver the engines by the end of May. The dragons have a maximum speed of 120km/h and an axle load of up to 20t, the griffins can pull trains weighing up 3,200 t at a maximum speed of 160km/h. (ben)
