More capacity for small consignments
Vereinigte Verlagsauslieferung (VVA), which belongs to Arvato SCM, is expanding and upgrading its office in Gutersloh (Germany), where the company’s book logistics services are located. The new installations will increase the company’s capacity for the order picking of small units by 60%.
The centrepiece of the upgrade is a dynamic shuttle system located in a 21 m high extension of the high-bay warehouse, which was recently constructed for this purpose. The state-of-the-art system will extend the number of automatically available ad hoc article containers from 25,000 to more than 60,000.
"We are implementing this expansion step by step and with all due care. The new hall is already in operation, and we have also completed preliminary changes to our conveyer technology,” VVA’s CEO Stephan Schierke explained. (mw)
