More capacity for container transports

TX Logistik (TXL) is integrating the German deep-water port Wilhelmshaven into its network and launching seaport hinterland transport services from mid-January 2023 with a new connection between Wilhelmshaven and the German rail terminals in Nuremberg and Kornwestheim. The new link will increase capacity for container transport by rail from Wilhelmshaven.

In the coming year, Hapag-Lloyd and other members of the shipping consortium "The Alliance" are planning the first Far East service there, TXL said.

Furthermore, the German rail stretch between Oldenburg and Wilhelmshaven has been double-tracked and fully electrified so that the 70 km long line will be open to modern electric locomotives as from 2023. (ben)
