More barges to/from North Brabant

The port of Rotterdam Authority, the Multimodal Coordination Foundation and Brabant Advice Centre (MCA Brabant) have just signed a partnership agreement. The objective of the partnership is to increase container transport volumes on inland waterways between Rotterdam and North Brabant.

With over 1 million containers, North Brabant is one of Rotterdam’s most important hinterland regions. One of the initiatives that the partners will be implementing in 2019 is to increase the digital information exchange between the port of Rotterdam and Brabant’s inland shipping terminals.

The parties will also investigate how transport between Brabant and Rotterdam can be accelerated sustainably, for instance by using container batteries to power inland vessels. (kd)
