Moorebank Terminal serves 1,800 m trains

The interstate terminal at the Moorebank Intermodal Precinct is now open. It is Australia’s first major ‘independent’ metropolitan interstate terminal, operating under an open access arrangement and not controlled by a single rail operator.

The site, 32 km from Sydney, will be able to manage 500,000 20-ft containers annually, with each train that comes through the terminal able to move 1,500 t of freight. It can serve trains up to 1,800 m long, directly adjacent to warehouse facilities and last mile delivery services. The hub connects the precinct to the interstate rail and road network. (ben)
