MOL Plus makes first strike
Founded in late April 2021, MOL Plus, a venture capital fund (CVC) firm owned by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has now chosen its first investment. The investment pool is JPY 4 billion (USD 36 million).
The CVC’s first project is the “Real Tech Fund”, operated by Real Tech Holding, a venture capital fund managed and operated by Real Tech Holdings. The fund helps to implement innovative R&D technologies (Real Tech) such as robotics, electronics, and AI— helping address global and human issues.
MOL Plus will enhance collaboration with start-up companies that are engaged in R&D of innovative technologies in Japan and Southeast Asia, through investment in the Real Tech Fund and combining start-up companies’ ideas and technologies with MOL Group resources. (cd)
