MOL inks long-term charter with Jera

The Japanese company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has signed a long-term charter deal for a newbuilding LNG carrier with a vessel operation management company funded by Jera. This marks the sixth contract with Jera for LNG carrier. The vessel will be built at the Geoje Shipyard of Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea, with delivery scheduled for 2027.

The ship will be equipped with an advanced MAN Energy Solutions engine, improving fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness compared to conventional LNG carriers.

The agreement aims to ensure a stable supply of LNG in partnership with Jera. MOL is expanding its LNG fleet as part of its business transformation and environmental goals, aiming for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. (pb)
