Modern rolling stock to transport ethanol

Brazil-based Inpasa Group is planning to more than double its ethanol handling capacity by rail, bringing the total volume transported to 1.01 billion litres per year. The company has acquired 50 wagons and two locomotives for this purpose. The wagons and locomotives will be operated by the logistics company Rumo for a period of initially ten years.

The rolling stock will run between Rondonópolis (MT) and Paulínia (SP), a journey of 1,200 km, until arriving at Sao Paulo, one of Brazil’s largest fuel consumer markets. The stretch to be travelled by rail represents 17,000 truck trips per year on the country's roads. The wagons were developed and manufactured by Greenbrier Maxion. (ben)
