Metrans tests first H2 truck

The HHLA intermodal company is expanding its fleet of zero-emission vehicles to enable fully climate-neutral container transport services in the future. Metrans is now trialling its first H2 truck, initially for transports in Orechova Poton in southwestern Slovakia.

The vehicle, which runs on hydrogen from renewable sources, complements the existing eco-friendly fleet, which includes electric trucks, electric and hybrid locomotives and electric container cranes.

The H2 pilot truck has a 48 kg hydrogen tank and a range of at least 600 km. Metrans is conducting the test in cooperation with technology specialist MIP and other partners. (ben)
