Malaysia implements maritime single window at Port Klang

Malaysia has officially launched a project entitled the ‘Malaysia Maritime Single Window’ (MMSW), developed by Kale Logistics Solutions, as the latter has reported.

The system, introduced by the Malaysian minister of transport on 17 February, aims to streamline vessel clearance processes. The MMSW has reduced vessel-processing times from around five days to a few hours, by providing real-time data and transparent service level agreements.

Port Klang, Malaysia’s largest gateway, has already seen efficiency improvements since its implementation. Further expansion of the system is planned, with more Malaysian hubs set to adopt the MMSW.

In 2024, Malaysia’s ports handled over 30 million teu, a 10% increase compared to 2023, according to Vineet Malhotra, co-founder of Kale Logistics Solutions. Port Klang is aiming to handle 15 million teu in 2025. (js)
