Maersk opens low emissions hub

Maersk has opened its first low greenhouse gas emission warehouse in Fredericia, Denmark. The site at Taulov Dry Port gives the company access to the “triangle region” in Funen and South Jutland.

Development at the facility began two years ago. In keeping with Maersk’s net-zero by 2040 ambitions, sustainability was a core aspect of this project, and all indoor and outdoor equipment has been electrified.

Solar panels offer a renewable energy source, while battery-driven trucks will be used for shunting manoeuvres. The warehouse was built according to Breeam Excellent standards, with zero direct emissions from operations. Additionally, the hub allows Maersk to expand its footprint in the Nordics region, giving it access to multimodal transport routes running through Taulov Dry Port. (mk)
