Logistics warehouse with CO2 negative operation

Rhenus Warehousing Solutions is preparing to operate its new 86,000 sqm site at the Rhine-Lippe port in Wesel, Germany without producing any additional CO2. To achieve this goal, Rhenus has joined forces with the public sector entities Emschergenossenschaft and Lippeverband (EGLV).

A photovoltaic system will produce electricity with a peak powert output of 9 megawatts. Extensive battery storage systems will allow the warehouse site to operate self-sufficiently at night.

A geothermal system, powered by the electricity from the photovoltaic system, will use geothermal energy to air-condition the halls. In addition, the façade will be partly clad with wood and partly greened to bind carbon dioxide. (ben)
