Leaving the UK for the USA – Boohoo!
The Boohoo Group, a fashion retailer based in UK, has asked DHL Supply Chain (DHLSC) to manage its first US distribution centre. For the retailer, whose annual sales exceed USD 2.4 billion, DHLSC will operate a new 93,000 sqm centre in Elizabethtown PA, southeast of Harrisburg.
The facility will open early in 2023 and will allow Boohoo to offer next-day services in the entire New York City metro region. 1,000 new associates will start in the warehouse’s first year, with nearly 2,500 associates expected to join over three years.
Kraig Foreman, the president for e-commerce activities with DHLSC, pointed out that “Boohoo has served the USA market through its UK network since 2006, but growing demand this side of the pond has made a US distribution centre a necessity for its fulfilment solutions.”
Boohoo supply chain director David James added that “we want to provide our growing customer base in USA with faster services than we currently offer from UK.”
