LA honours 70th IAPH anniversary

The port of Los Angeles has paid tribute to the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) on its 70th anniversary, recognising its global leadership in addressing key industry challenges. The milestone was marked at a port-hosted networking event during TPM25 in Long Beach.

Port executive director Gene Seroka presented a certificate of honour to IAPH managing director Patrick Verhoeven, highlighting Los Angeles’s historical links to the organisation, which held its first conference there in 1955 as a US-Japan initiative.

The IAPH now represents 191 ports and 165 port-related businesses, handling over a third of global sea trade and 60% of container traffic. Anniversary celebrations will continue at the World Ports Conference in Kobe (Japan) in October. (ah)
