Kobe Port to house dangerous goods warehouse
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) will establish a logistics centre on Port Island, port of Kobe, Japan, which will feature two warehouses for dangerous goods and one for general cargo. It is expected to come on stream by spring 2026.
Managed by MOL’s Japan Express Co., this facility aligns with MOL’s "Blue Action 2035" strategy, which aims to diversify its business beyond shipping and enhance its chemical logistics services.
The centre will support safe, compliant storage for imports and exports, with business continuity planning (BCP) measures such as high floors to prevent storm surge damage and emergency power. The initiative strengthens MOL’s presence in Kobe and contributes to the port’s ongoing development. (pb)
