KN moves into marine drayage

Kuehne + Nagel (KN) is acquiring 51% of the shares of marine drayage provider IMC Logistics. Based in Collierville, Tennessee, IMC has boosted its US network to 49 locations close to major seaports and rail transport hubs.

Founded more than four decades ago, IMC specialises in comprehensive intermodal solutions. It will now seek to enhance its long-standing collaboration with KN, providing a complementary network as well as a capacity to handle 2 million teus per year in intermodal drayage and rail operations.

KN thus solidifies its own foothold in the North American market and gains access to IMC’s expertise and 1,700 employees. This transaction is set to close in early 2025. With the recent acquisition of Apex in Asia, KN plans to leverage long-term partnerships and reduce acquisition risk while maintaining growth in global markets. (mk)
