K5 Freeport active in Equatorial Africa

K5 Freeport & Oil Centre in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Africa, was selected by Noble Energy as platform support specialist and logistic service provider for the Alen gas monetisation project. A capacity to store 5,864 concrete coated pipes was required.

The work ranged from project management, port services, road transportation to rigging and lifting of the 37,000 t of pipe. Over 120 people contributed to the loading operations onto the UAL “Lobito” and “Symphony Performer”, which were the two vessels supplying the pipe laying vessel “Castorone” with pipe.

The laying of a 70 km pipeline by Saipem Offshore Construction will extend the life of this world class LNG facilities and at the same time transform the Punta Europa Complex into a gas hub for the development of future Gulf of Guinea gas fields. (cd)
