Joint venture on three seas

Bremen Overseas Chartering and Shipping (BOCS) and UAL (Netherlands) are launching a new joint venture to expand shipping routes and capacities between the Mediterranean, the Black Sea and West Africa.

The combined forces will operate under the name of UAL BOCS Shipping Line BV (UBSL) and be based in the Dutch city of Capelle ad IJssel. The new entity can draw on a total of 19 MPP vessels, ranging from 8,000 to 33,000 dwt, equipped with gear to lift 360 t.

“We’ve already successfully worked with BOCS for years from NW Europe to West Africa. By sharing our tonnage, we’ll still fulfil the needs of our clients in this tight market,” said Harald Maas, director of Universal Africa Lines.

UAL Chartering in Copenhagen will act as commercial agent for this new joint venture. (sh)
