Joint depot company founded in Port Klang
Yang Ming Marine has jointly set up a joint venture depot company named Jambatan Merah Formosa Depot at Port Klang, Malaysia, in cooperation with the Taiwan Foundation International and Malaysian investors. The opening ceremony was held on 1 October 2020.
The new company will provide inland empty container depot and container maintenance as well as repair services. According to an International Monetary Fund (IMF) report released in June, despite the fact that Malaysia’s GDP is projected to contract by 3.8% this year due to Covid-19, its GDP growth is expected to resume pre-Covid-19 growth levels in 2021 at 6.3%. Port Klang, the largest port in Malaysia, is also a main calling port for Yang Ming. (sh)
