Joining forces against dangerous distractions
The time of distraction may be short, but the consequences can be deadly. In five seconds, a truck travelling at 90 km/h covers a distance of 125 m. If the driver is busy with his smartphone instead of paying attention to the road, serious accidents can occur.
In order to increase road safety, ADAC Truckservice will add the SafeDrivePod system developed by the Dutch provider of the same name to its programme as from October this year.
SafeDrivePod ensures that smartphones cannot be used while driving. However, drivers can still communicate by telephone using a hands-free module, and in an emergency, they can telephone for help via an integrated SOS function. (ben)
