Jilin: improved intermodal access
The two transport companies Fesco (Russia) and Geo Tour Logistics (China) want to jointly develop land-based transport services for containers between the city of Hunchun (Jilin Province, China) on the Russian/North Korean border and the Russian and Chinese ports.
The two countries have signed a memorandum of understanding to this effect, whereby, Fesco will organise the intermodal rail/ship transports, provide transport and container equipment and various forwarding services. According to Fesco, the new service will transport primarily foodstuffs, grain, edible oils, timber and timber products, industrial and chemical products, and minerals. (ben)
