Intermodal players join forces in Spain

Alonso, headquartered in Valencia, has acquired a majority stake in the Madrid-based railfreight enterprise Compañía Europea Ferroviaria (Cefsa).

Cefsa currently has a fleet of 29 locomotives and 81 double wagons (40 ft). It provides solutions for all industries, including locomotives, driving staff, coordination with origin/destination terminals and managing train paths.

Cefsa operates more than 20 trains a week on the Valencia–Madrid–Valencia corridor, in addition to other routes. Alonso seeks to connect the main points of maritime traffic on the Iberian Peninsula and internationally through the use of the railways. (ben)
