Honours for the pioneers of the pallet's triumph


Oliver Richter (1920-2014), an Australian who, as trade manager of Brambles in the 1960s, discovered the potential of a closed rental pool for load carriers and successfully established today's Commonwealth Handling Equipment Pool (Chep) system, and George Raymond Sr. (1890-1967), founder of the US intralogistics solutions provider The Raymond Corporation and inventor of the double-faced wooden pallet, patented in 1939, will be posthumously inducted as pallet pioneers to the Logistics Hall of Fame – alongside the UIC (Union Internationale des Chemins de Fer) and The European Pallet Association (Epal).

 

The Traton Logistics Leader of the Year Award will be presented during a reception in Berlin on 29 November 2022. This year’s winner is the British manager Neil Humphrey, President, Havi Supply Chain. (ah)
